Web design for the trades

Websites for builders
and contractors.

I build websites for builders, renovators and excavation contractors: your jobs in a gallery you add to from your phone, a quote form that lands in your inbox, and a number customers can tap to call.

Word of mouth

They look you up before they call.

Most trades work comes from people who already know your name: a past client, a neighbour, another trade on the same job. Before they pick up the phone, they search that name.

What comes up is their first look at your work. A site with your own jobs on it, the work you take on, the towns you cover and a number they can tap answers the first questions before the first call.

The average home renovation permit in BC

$114,700

August 2025 to July 2026. That's a lot of money to hand to a builder you haven't looked up.

the trades.

Two builders and an excavating company on Salt Spring Island, each on a page of its own site, the way their customers see it on a phone and a laptop.

    Builder Salt Spring Island

    Grain Construction

A builder's first website, with every project in its own gallery, so a customer can walk through one build from start to finish.

    On this page

    • Straight to the projects, each with its own gallery
    • A quote request on the first screen
    • Red Seal and WorkSafeBC, up front
  2. charliesexcavating.ca/contact

Excavation and septic Salt Spring Island

    Charlie's Excavating

Septic and excavation are different calls, so the site answers both, and every photo on it is one of their own jobs.

    On this page

    • What to send: the address and what the ground is doing
    • It asks where the property is
    • It asks what the job is: septic, excavation, rock breaking, a driveway
  3. nicolconstruction.ca/projects
Nicol Construction's projects page on a laptop
Nicol Construction's projects page on a phone

    Custom homes Salt Spring Island

    Nicol Construction

Custom homes and renovations sorted the way builders think about them, by type and place, with the BC Housing builder licence on every page.

    On this page

    • Filter by new builds, renovations and additions
    • Every project opens its own gallery
    • Each project's type and place under its photo

Trades sites start at $1,500, and the preview is free.

How it works.

From your first message to a site you run yourself, in one to three weeks. The price comes with your free preview, and it's fixed before the build starts.

Tell me about your business

5 min

A short message through the contact form: who you are, what you do, and what you have now. Nothing to prepare.

02

Free preview

Within a week

I build the top of your new homepage, one screen at laptop and phone sizes, from what's already public about your business. It comes with the price. No meeting needed, and nothing to prepare.

03

Proposal and deposit

If you like it

If you like the preview, you get a short proposal with the scope, the timeline and a fixed price, and a 25% deposit books the build. If you don't like the preview, you pay nothing and that's it.

04

Build, launch, handoff

1 to 3 weeks

I finish the build with your feedback along the way, launch with you, and hand off a recorded walkthrough plus a month of free edits.

What it costs.

One price, fixed before I start, on the same terms your proposal would carry.

We worked with Owen to build our business website, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish.

The process was seamless, his communication was excellent, and the attention to detail he put into every aspect of the site was exceptional. He made everything easy and delivered a website that exceeded our expectations.

Not much. A short message to start, then the photos you have and a list of the jobs you want shown. I write the first draft of every page from that and from what's already public about your business, and you review it: two rounds of changes are part of the price. A trades site usually takes two to three weeks, and the biggest variable is how quickly feedback comes back.

Start with what you have. Phone photos from the job are fine: Charlie's Excavating's site is built from photos taken on their phones at the end of the day. New ones go up from your phone whenever you have them, so the gallery grows with the work.

Yes. The domain is registered in your name. The code and the hosting move to your own account whenever you ask, and hosting it yourself runs about $20 a month. Your site doesn't depend on me to keep running.

Yes. Log in at yoursite.ca/keystatic with your email, add a project or change a line, add its photos one at a time, and press save. The live site updates in about a minute. Charlie's Excavating made their first edit themselves, and it published without me touching anything.

Nobody can promise a ranking, and I won't. What I do: build it fast, put your services and the towns you cover on the page and in the data search engines read, and link your Google Business Profile, or set one up with you. The map results mostly come down to that profile: how close you are, how well it matches the search, and your reviews.

No. I'm in Victoria and grew up on Salt Spring, and I build for trades anywhere in BC. Most of the work happens over email and a call or two, so distance doesn't change much.

Tell me about your work.

I'll build a free preview of the top of your new homepage from what's already public, usually within a week, and send it with the price. Nothing to prepare, and no obligation to go ahead.
