About me
Hi, I'm Owen.
I'm a software engineering student at the University of Victoria and the founder of OBdesign, where I build modern, responsive websites for small businesses and local brands.
I started OBdesign because I enjoy the full process of turning an idea into something real: understanding what a business needs, designing a clean user experience, building the site, and making sure it works properly after launch.
All of my work is custom-coded in modern frameworks like Next.js and Astro, no page builders or templates. Every site ships with a simple editor, so clients keep control of their own content.
Because I work directly with each client, communication is a big part of how I approach projects. I like keeping the process straightforward, honest, and practical so the final site actually supports the business behind it.

Projects start at $750 for a Landing Page and $1,500 for a Business Website. Advanced Websites with booking or a shop start at $3,500, and custom applications are scoped per project from $5,000. Every quote is fixed before work starts, and the full breakdown is on the services page.

A Landing Page takes about a week. Business Websites usually run two to three weeks. The biggest variable is how quickly feedback comes back.

Yes, if your project includes a CMS. I also record a walkthrough video at handoff so you know exactly how to make updates yourself.

Absolutely. I work remotely with clients across BC and beyond. Most of the project happens over video calls and shared docs anyway.

Every project includes a 30-day warranty for bugs. For custom sites I build, hosting is free — I host them on my own account at no cost to you — and any future updates are quoted one-off, so there are no monthly fees.
