What it covers

Your site, looked after.

Every site I build is hosted free, and the first month of changes and monitoring is on me. After that the care plan covers up to 1 hour of edits every month, with a reply the same day, so a new price, a new photo or a new page doesn't wait.

Twice a month, on the 1st and the 15th, eight checks run on your site. If one fails, the email comes to me, not you, and the fix is part of the plan. Every month you get your site's numbers: visits, calls and messages. You can cancel anytime, or say no and edit it yourself from your dashboard.

You run it.
I host it.

Every package comes with an editing dashboard and free hosting. Here's what that looks like once your site is live.

Charlie's Excavating's dashboard, with the homepage intro they rewrote themselves the day the site went live.

Change it yourself, without calling anyone.

  1. Log in at yoursite.ca/keystatic with your email. No developer account, no code.
  2. Change what you need. Your pages are listed section by section, in the same order they appear on the site.
  3. Press Save. The live site updates in about a minute.

You can change

  • Headlines and text
  • Photos
  • Prices and hours
  • Projects, posts and news

Stays locked

  • Layout
  • Fonts and colours
  • Spacing

So a late-night edit can't break the design.

Charlie's Excavating made their first edit the day the site went live. It published without me touching anything.

Hosting's on me.

No hosting bill

Your site runs on my hosting account at no cost to you, for as long as you want it there. There's no hosting plan to pick and nothing to renew.

No lock-in

If you ever want full control, I'll move the site to your own account and hand over the code. Hosting it yourself runs about $20 a month with the host.

Yours from day one

  • Your domainRegistered in your name, not mine.
  • Your contentEditable any time from your dashboard.
  • A recorded walkthroughA short video tour of your dashboard, yours to keep.
  • A month of free editsAny changes or fixes in the first month after launch are on me.

Yours whenever you ask

  • The codeThe full source of your site, handed over on GitHub.
  • The hostingThe site moved onto your own account, domain and all.

If I'm ever not around

You still have everything. The domain is already in your name, and the code and hosting move straight to you. Your site doesn't depend on me to keep running.

Free hosting covers sites I build; a site on Squarespace, Wix or Shopify stays on that platform's own plan. A very photo-heavy site, like a large shop, can need a $10/month image plan for the dashboard, and if yours would, you'll know before the build starts.

I keep watch.

On the care plan, your site is monitored twice a month. Eight checks run, and if one fails, I hear about it before you do.

If a check fails, the email comes to me, not you, and the fix is part of the plan. Edits are covered too: up to 1 hour of edits every month.

  • The email the monitoring sends Owen after a check: two new problems since the last check, each with what to do about it.

The email I get. Only when something changed, and it says what to do about it.

  • A monthly monitoring report for Harbour and Hearth Bakery: up at one of two checks, what happened, and everything that was watched.

A report each month. Your site's checks in plain words. Ask and it's yours.

The pictures are from the live demo, which runs on invented businesses. Real dashboards are private.

Working with Owen has been fantastic.

He is incredibly responsive, quick to make updates, and has delivered exactly what he said he would every step of the way. What has impressed me most is his professionalism and reliability.

The sites I build, from their second month: the first month of changes and monitoring is free. For a site someone else built, updates and fixes are by the hour.

Anything that keeps the site current: new text, photos, prices, a section or a page, a fix. The plan covers up to 1 hour of edits every month. A bigger job is quoted before I start.

Eight things, on the 1st and the 15th: that the site is up, that the contact form delivers, the security certificate, the domain's renewal, the page content, every link, your email settings and your DNS. If one fails, I hear about it before you do.

Anytime. Or say no from the start: you can change most things yourself in your dashboard, and anything bigger I quote one-off.

Tell me about your business.

I'll build a free preview of the top of your new homepage from what's already public, usually within a week, and send it with the price. Nothing to prepare, and no obligation to go ahead.
