The challenge
Soma Active Health is a multidisciplinary clinic in Fernwood, Victoria — six therapies and eleven registered practitioners under one roof. Their old site had served them for years, but it was showing its age: an insecure http connection, a dated template design, and a footer that hadn’t been touched in a long time.
Nicola and Kelly had one firm requirement beyond the redesign itself: they manage their own content, and they wanted to keep doing so. Any new site had to be something they could edit themselves — text, photos, and clinic news — without touching code or calling a developer.
What I built
The new design keeps what patients already trusted — Soma’s blue brand and calm, professional feel — and rebuilds everything around it: a warm cream canvas, editorial serif headlines, and a clear path to booking. Their Jane App booking system stays front and centre, one tap away from every section.
Each of the six therapies gets its own card with real pricing, ICBC billing notes, and a direct booking link, so patients know exactly what to expect before they book. Practitioner profiles, a proper news blog for clinic updates, and a spam-protected contact form round out the site.
The whole site runs on a simple content dashboard. Nicola and Kelly log in with their email, edit any text field, swap any photo, or publish a news post — and the changes go live on their own. No code, no developer bottleneck.
The result
somavictoria.ca now serves a fast, secure, mobile-friendly site that matches the quality of care inside the clinic. Nicola and Kelly were sending in edits and publishing their own updates before the site even launched — the handoff was a walkthrough video, not a manual.
