About me
Hi, I'm Owen.
I'm a software engineering student at the University of Victoria and the founder of OBdesign, where I build modern, responsive websites for small businesses and local brands.
I started OBdesign because I enjoy the full process of turning an idea into something real: understanding what a business needs, designing a clean user experience, building the site, and making sure it works properly after launch.
Everything I build now is custom-coded in modern frameworks like Next.js and Astro, with no templates. Every site ships with a simple editor, so clients keep control of their own content.
Because I work directly with each client, communication is a big part of how I approach projects. I like keeping the process straightforward, honest, and practical so the final site actually supports the business behind it.

Projects start at $750 for a Landing Page and $1,500 for a Business Website. Advanced Websites with booking or a shop start at $3,500, and custom applications are scoped per project from $5,000. Every quote is fixed before work starts, and the full breakdown is on the services page.

A Landing Page takes about a week. Business Websites usually run two to three weeks. The biggest variable is how quickly feedback comes back.

Yes. Every package includes a simple editing dashboard for your text and photos, and I record a walkthrough video at handoff so you know exactly how to use it.

Yes. I work with clients across BC and beyond, and the process works just as well remotely. On the island, I'm always happy to meet in person.

Changes and fixes are free for the first month after launch. After that, most things you can change yourself in your dashboard, and anything bigger is quoted one-off. Hosting is free: I host your site on my own account, so there are no monthly fees.
